Military officials insist their case for attacking Zarqawi’s operation [before the war] was airtight, but the administration feared destroying the terrorist camp in Iraq could undercut its case for war against Saddam.(Because Zarqawi's camp, which lay in U.S./Kurdish controlled Iraqi territory and outside Hussein's control, was being sold to the American public as proof that Hussein was in league with terrorists.)
It's a damn shame these people can't vote in November.
