Homeland Security for Cities

Lost amid the stinking, nearly impenetrable shit pile that is B***'s latest budget, one small item glints slightly:

"...the White House said it would increase funding for the Urban Area Security Initiative to $1.45 billion from $725 million. The program provides federal grants to high-risk cities."

Since I live in a high-risk city, and since there have been a LOT of lefty complaints about Homeland Security's slant toward places that will never be attacked (you know who you are, Nebraskans), I thought I'd mention it.

On the other hand, it seems overall funding for first responders is down between $1.2 and $2 billion.

(sigh)
